Emma Donoghue “Room”

22 apr.

roomRoom is a shocking, riveying, exhilarating story of unconquerable love and a diamond-hard bond between a mother and her child. This love between mother and her son helps them to survive the impossible.

Jack is a five year old boy who lives with his mother in Room, which has a locked door, skylight and measures eleven feet by eleven feet. Room is home for Jack, but to Ma its the prison where she has been held for seven years. For Jack only him, Ma and things in the Room are real. Until Ma admits that there’s a world outside… All the story is told in Jack’s voice.

There is incredible imagination and dazzling use of language in this story. This is a book you begin to read and won’t put away until its finished.

Room was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2010.
